Just want some different opinions on this. AND DONT SAY YOU CANT BE A COP AT 18!!! Because I have found several places that hire at 18 and only require an high school diploma. Here are some of the places: Great Falls Montana police department Orange County California sheriffs department Iowa City Iowa police department Upland California police department Detroit police department But I have always wanted to be a police officer all my life and here in my hometown Jacksonville Florida I am a police explorer and I can go to Community Service Officer after I graduate in 2011 (next year) and in the CSO program I can have my full 4 year degree paid for by the sheriffs office. And also get paid doing CSO, its similar to a cop except you can only carry radio, flashlight, gloves, and you get your own car after training and stuff but you handle traffic crashes that aren't fatal, abandoned vehicles, simple thefts, traffic control. So what should I do? At paul well how bout u check out every department I named, o and by the way different laws different states so actually if im not old enough to carry a firearm in that state they can give me a waiver and as for bar checks it wouldnt matter first of all you can go in a bar at 18 you just can't drink, and secondly how would they know im not 21 all they are gonna see is my uniform, gun, and badge....
